Yogurt Smoothie Recipe For Kids

I started feeding my daughter with yugort as early as 8months. At first I was hesistant it might caused her diarrhea or some allergy. After learning its power to fight against infection, I decided to give her yogurt twice or thrice a week.
There are full fat yogurt and dairy products designed for infants. Fat plays an important role for brain development from 2 to 3 years of age. Yogurt is a dense food that contains more calcium than milk. As added nutrition.

Four weeks ago my daughter had a diarrhea and I used yogurt as her supplement since it is rich in probiotics or beneficial bacteria.
However, some brands contain artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, tons of sugar, high fructose syrup and thickeners. That is why, as every mothers should do, checking label is very important. You can be sure the brand is the right one and that contains the right nutrition and ingredients for your infants and toddlers.
It pays to check the label :)
I always buy plain and full-fat yugort, though it's difficult to find at times. The simpler the ingredients the better. I add fresh fruits like mangoes or banana for added flavor.
There are other ways to make your baby's yugort more enticing to eat. If you are somewhat a DIY mom, you can make your own version of yugort by adding your baby's favorite fruits and blend just like smoothie. And you can be sure it is going to be acceptable for your kiddo.
I have below a fruit and yogurt smoothie recipe I saw online and I would like to share with fellow moms. This is just easy and the engredients are so easy to find.

A fruit and yogurt smoothie is a quick, easy and healthy way to get more fruit and calcium into your child's diet.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup of your child's favorite fruit, such as peaches, bananas, pineapples, strawberries, mangos, etc.
  • 3/4 cup of yogurt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
Preparation:
Peel the fruit, if appropriate, and cut them up into small pieces. Put all of the ingredients into a blender and puree them together until smooth.
Pour into a chilled glass and serve with a straw.

Keep in mind that you may have to add ice or use frozen fruit if you really want to serve it cold. Also, a banana may be needed to get the smoothie to the right consistency (thick and creamy).
